2001 Heads, snowmen and more heads

As always we did a ton of work at the opera. This year I tried to do a lot of things in gelatine which was fun!
Then we got a really big job creating heads for a uni i USA. Great fun!
For the children's opera "The Dolldoctor" I worked together with Kerstin Olsen to make some fun characters. Here you can see the wooden soldier on Torgny Sporsén. One of the three witches from "MacBeth". Marcus Jupither as MacBeth The GothenburgOpera All the heads were done for The Institute of child development, University of Minnesota. They are doing a study on how infants become familiar with faces through experience. This was one of the biggest jobs we have done so far and having less than 2 months to make them all, we spent looooong hours in the lab. We were quite pleased with them even if there is always things you would like to change when you're done. Knowing they were going to put the heads next to baby cribs we were concerned about using anything toxic. So the most non toxic material around is gelatine. So we used that and filled it with a medical grade polyurethane foam, normally used for making prosthetic limbs. Expensive but we did not want to risk anyone suing us! The thing we were most pleased with was that we found a way to make eyes that looked really good. But how stays a secret! I did this job together with Gunnar Lundgren.
Together with Gunnar Lundgren I made these gelatine heads for a university in USA. They were used to conduct some research if infants had memories.
